Day 4 - Getting new socks and the Tokyo Skytree

I generally don't have foot problems.  However, a combination of 1) lots of walking 2) newer shoes 3) bringing cotton socks instead of synthetics, and 4) a more hot and humid enironment, all contributed to me getting a couple of blisters on my toes.  Generally painful, but not slowing me down much.

So, after breakfast this morning, we ventured up to the area of Shinjuku Station with Art, and looked for an athletic supply store.  The stores we wanted weren't opening until 1100, so we had a bit of time to kill.   We went into a nearby interior furnishings store to look around.  It had 8 floors of upper end furniture, mostly contemporary tables, chairs, and R2D2.

Most of the stuff here I would not be able to afford.  Take this table, for example:

If you can zoom in, you'll see it's around 626,000 yen.  Or, around $6,000.  It's a nice table.  But, I won't be buying it anytime soon.

After blowing time in this store, the sports store opened up. I purchased some athletic synthetic socks that would help lessen the moisture in my shoe.  Allegedly.  We'll see how that plan works.  I know the cotton socks are a no-go, so this will have to do.

We then made our way to the Tokyo Skytree.  It's a large tower that was open in 2012.  It's tallest thing around.  We went to the 350 meter level.  That's a bit over 1,100 feet up.  That a LONG way up, and the view was pretty spectacular.

After coming down, we found probably the largest Starbucks I've ever seen, right  in the shopping center at the base of the Skytree.  It must have held a hundred people.  We stopped for some coffee, and a good view off the property.

Then, it was laundry time.  Our hotel has a coin op laundry, and we took advantage of it.  We may not have another one for the rest of the trip.

We then met Art for our last dinner together, going to a Soba noodle place not far from our respective hotels.  He's leaving for Seattle tomorrow, and we'll be on our own from here on out.

Tomorrows a Disney day.  We'll see how this works out.
